Alternate Styles
Below are INSIGNIA's original compositions reinterpreted in other musical styles.
On December 19, 2010, INSIGNIA surprised everyone — including ourselves.
We released our first (and still only) official music video… and it wasn’t heavy metal.
It was cumbia.
Yes — rhythm, groove, movement. But because this is INSIGNIA, it couldn’t just be straightforward. While the song carried infectious cumbia energy, some of the imagery leaned darker, exaggerated, and slightly tongue-in-cheek. That contrast was intentional.
From the purposely raw, almost amateur-style opening shots… to the abrupt scene cuts… to the theatrical visual elements woven throughout — it was all designed to play with expectation. Bright rhythm meets shadowy visuals. Danceable beat meets dramatic flair. Serious tone meets subtle comic relief.
Even the theme and title of the song reflected that layered personality.
You can interpret it however you like.
Was it satire?
Was it experimentation?
Was it INSIGNIA refusing to stay in one lane?
Maybe all of the above.
What truly mattered was this: we had a blast filming it. Every frame was fueled by creativity, spontaneity, and the freedom to try something unexpected.
Will we step back into that visual world again?
Never say never.
Below is the video — turn it up, let it play, and decide for yourself.
